Marnie Abbott

Senior Counsel

For over 20 years, Marnie’s practice has focused on the area of real property law, representing Buyers, Sellers, Lenders, Builders, Sponsors and Title Companies in real estate transactions throughout the Capital District and North Country.

Representing real estate clients has been the pillar of her law practice, and she has worked with sophisticated residential and commercial real estate clients with complex transactions who demand experienced counsel that knows real estate law. She is experienced in real estate transactions that include single family homes, townhouses, condominium units, lake front property, vacant land transactions and commercial property.

She has also represented Sponsors/Developers of Homeowner’s Associations, Condominiums, and Retirement Communities in the preparation of Offering Plans, Cooperative Policy Statement Applications and Amendments and their submission to the New York State Attorney General’s Office under New York’s Martin Act. She has also represented community associations, advising boards and drafting and amending declarations and by-laws.

Credentials and Awards

Marnie received her undergraduate degree from Union College in 1998 and earned her Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2002.

Marnie was selected to the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 Super Lawyers List, as a Top Rated Real Estate Attorney. Prior to that she was named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for three consecutive years.

Marnie enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking and hiking in the Adirondacks, Green Mountains and Rocky Mountains with her family and friends, as well as cooking and reading about history in her down time.
